What merging does, and what it leaves alone
- Pages are copied, not re-rendered. Each page is carried across with its own fonts, images and vector art intact. Nothing is flattened into a picture, so the merged file stays as sharp as the originals and its text stays selectable and searchable.
- Pages keep their own size. A merged document can hold an A4 page, a US Letter page and a wide slide, each at its original dimensions. Nothing is scaled to a common sheet, because doing so would either crop content or leave uneven margins.
- Order is entirely yours. Files merge top to bottom in the order shown, which is the order you dropped them in until you change it. Rename nothing and rely on no sorting rule — what you see in the list is what you get.
- Password-protected files cannot be merged. An encrypted PDF will not open for reading, and this will say so by name rather than failing quietly. Remove the password in the program that made it, then merge.
- Nothing is uploaded. The merge happens in your browser. Confidential contracts, medical records and financial statements never leave the device, which is the difference between this and a server-side merger.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a file size or page limit?
No limit is imposed. The work happens in your browser, so the practical ceiling is your device's memory — very large scanned documents are the ones to watch.
Are the files uploaded?
No. The PDFs are read and combined on your device and never sent anywhere.
Does merging reduce quality?
No. Pages are copied whole rather than re-compressed, so images and text are byte-for-byte what they were.
Can I merge a password-protected PDF?
No. An encrypted PDF cannot be read without its password. Remove the password first, then merge.
